A BEAUTIFUL COLLISION

Ashley and I and our buds ventured out to Orlando, FL this past Friday to see the David Crowder*Band on the 7 tour. The night was pretty epic.

1. Ashley and I volunteered at the ONE table. One is a non-profit advocacy campaign that fights extreme poverty and preventable diseases, with a primary focus in Africa. We walked around asking people to sign a petition for the government to provide aid to the horn of Africa where there has been a terrible famine over this last summer and more than 30,000 kids have starved to death. The fact that people actually starve to death in this day and age is crazy to me. If you would like to sign this petition you can do so at:

2. John Mark McMillan. Geez. I have been listening to his music for the last several months and have been loving it. BUT seeing the man in person, doing what he loves, was pretty incredible. This is my favorite song of his (right now):

3. Gungor. Another favorite of mine. I love their music. Michael Gungor also has some pretty challenging views on worship and music. You can check some of that out on his blog:

4. David Crowder*Band. After volunteering at a sold out show, we were trying to watch through the back of heads unsuccessfully. So we pushed through the crowd to get to where our friends were, right up in front. This show was awesome. I am not for worshiping people, so don’t misunderstand the importance I assign these people…but DC*B has been responsible for shaping my theology as much as any books or relationships I have experienced. I don’t have a personal relationship with these men, but I am grateful for the music they have made and the manner with which they have made it. It was an incredible night of music that has impacted my views on what the relationship of music and worship can be and how that can replenish our souls as well as lead others to Christ. My favorite Crowder song:

Although they will probably never read this, thanks to all of these bands so much for the evening. I’m no expert, but I believe God was glorified that night.
